The FREE Secret

Five months ago I told my boyfriend "if you have a copy of "The Secret" laying around I might give it a read, but there is no way I will buy a copy of it." This morning before heading off to the day job I went on www.Audible.com and got me a copy of the "book on tape" for FREE.

I'm a man of my word. If I say I will not pay for something I don't believe in then I find a way to attract it without paying. I guess you can say I don't need The Secret to tell me something I already know.

Now, if The Secret can do something about helping me find an investor that is willing to provide me with $10k to $20k to start up my business then I will personally go to a book store and buy 100 copies of The Secret.

ps - chapter three has great words of wisdom for skinny people that hate fat people.
"...the condition of being overweight was created through your thought to it....if someone is overweight it came from thinking fat thoughts...whether people have been told they have a slow thyroid, a slow metabolism or their body size is hereditary these are all disguises for thinking fat thoughts." So true. That's why we should learn from THE master of thin thoughts. Clearly Fat people are fat because they want to be. I'm not skinny because of my genes and my diet. Oh, no! I'm going out and eating a whole pizza and I won't gain a pound so long as I'm thinking skinny thoughts. This is bound to work.
"If you see people who are overweight do not observe them, but imediatly switch your mind to the picture of you in your perfect body and feel it," yeah, ignore fat people!

Artistic Rape

There are times when I read about an artist or performer's life and I see snippets of myself in their past. It's weird. A part of me wishes I was as talented as they.

Salvador Dali
Charles Busch
Andy Coffman
Benny Hill
Dame Edna

I'm currently reading an article on David Foster Wallace, the talented writer who hung himself. It's very unfortunate since according to his peers he was very talented. As I'm reading this article in Rolling Stone Magazine I can identify with so many of Wallace's characteristics...and it scares me a bit.

How I wish talented people didn't end their life prematurely. I feel like it's a form of artistic rape...and this world doesn't need any more art taken away from it.

What Would Dolly Do?

I'm not one to dwell on drama but this is ridiculous.
As you may know, or you may not know, in 2005 my alter-ego Amnesia Sparkles interviewed Dolly Parton. Well, last week, I got hit with copyright infringement for using the beginning of Dolly's song "9 to 5" on a Youtube video where I play a portion of the interview with Dolly Parton.

That's right! The video had a piece of Dolly's song AND it had DOLLY on it and I still got hit with copyright infringement for using a piece of the song. Uhm, last I checked the interview was to promote Dolly's work, hence that's why I was on the phone with DOLLY!!! HELLO!!!

I'm curious what Dolly would have to say about YouTube doing this.

Needless to say I chopped off the beginning of the song out of the audio and posted the interview again.
I think Dolly would want it that way....if she doesn't, then her people have my number. She knows where to find me between the hours of 9 to 5.

I will always love you Dolly.

:-)

Divorce

One of my old friends from Florida is thinking of getting a divorce.
She is a beautiful person. Sweet, kind, smart, funny, with a huge heart.
I never met her husband in the many years they've been married.
I've not talked to her in detail yet but maybe she will soon tell me why they've come to the end of their marriage.

I can't imagine what divorce feels like, I can only imaging it to be a less than desirable feeling...however, as a gay man I can't help but want to have the option to divorce. I guess if I'm not allowed to marry a person of the same sex then I won't have to deal with divorce. Maybe this is the way straight people are protecting us from such heartache?

I'm an adult. I think I can handle divorce...as I'm sure my friend can if she and her husband decide to take that road.

Stay strong my friend...oh, and if you need a new husband let me know and I will go out and buy you a ring...we will have matching diamond rings like the one Mariah Carey wears.

Depression

Depression sucks. For a reason I cannot explain I've always been able to attract a large number of folk that are down in the dumps. The rule of attraction would say that since I attract them sad folk then I too should be depressed? Yet that doesn't hold true since those same depressed folk seek entertainment from me, and for me to lift their spirits. I try to do so the best I can because I enjoy helping people and making them smile. I like to believe folk confide in me because they know I too have had my lows and I'm not afraid to talk about them.

I usually grab myself by the bootstraps, brush myself off, and try to redirect those negative thoughts to something positive: The little things in life that make me happy, things like sushi, kissing my lover, laughing with friends, hugs, thinking of my sister and brother, making fun of my mother, listening to one of my dad's dumb jokes, finishing a drawing, doing a photoshoot, performing as Amnesia, sunsets, fart jokes, etc.

If all that fails I think of Joseph's Campbell's words from The Power of Myth

Moyers: Have you ever had sympathy for the man who has no invisible means of support?

Campbell: Who has no invisible means? Yes, he is the one that evokes compassion, the poor chap. To see him stumbling around when all the waters of life are right there really evokes one’s pity.

Moyers: The waters of eternal life are right there? Where?

Campbell: Wherever you are—if you are following your bliss, you are enjoying that refreshment, that life within you, all the time.

Calling Dr Jones

"shouldn't you be having a mid life crisis?" a voice on the phone said to me.
Well, in four days it will be my half birthday, which means that in six months and four days I will be turning the big three O.

So, since my friends feel that I should have some sort of Mariah Carey breakdown I will entertain their thoughts and start my 6 months body transformation. lol
I just laugh at that title. 6 month body transformation.!!!!
What will I be transforming into?
We'll have to wait and see.
Let's just say the "Secret" ain't got nothing on me.

Three Zero here I come!

ps - this helps with my 6 month transformation.

iPod Cure

I started feeling under the weather a few days ago.
I can't even remember the last time I had a cold...this actually might be the first of 2008...it's all because I got a bit too intimate with my boyfriend last week when we has sick.

Can you believe he came over to my place yesterday and instead of bringing me soup or flowers he got me an iPod Touch!!!!!! WTF?!
Don't get me wrong, I'm in love with it but I thought it was a crazy gift to give someone who has a little cold. What will he get me if I get cancer? The entire apple store!!!!

The gift is greatly appreciated but he doesn't have to give me an iPod touch to win my love...he's had my love for a while now. I'm not afraid to say that he's got all my love and everyday that passes I find myself liking him more and more.

Yeah, I know this is a public forum and some of you might throw up by reading this but hey, what can I say, I'm on cold medicine :-)

Politicians: Brain and Mouth

Yesterday I was having lunch with a friend when I said something along the lines of "I hate talkers." This was in reference to people that spend a great deal of their lives talking about what they what to do with their lives but never get off their asses to actually make their words a reality.

Then last night I was watching the second presidential debate when I realized why I don't like politics. Politics is all talk. It's talk talk talk, then talk some more, try to convince people to do what you want them to do, and talk some more. Politicians are basically a brain and a mouth...well, some might argue that they are only big mouths since some politicians don't exhibit any sign of having a brain.

My point? I learned that talkers aren't the losers I thought they were...so long as they run for office.

Crazy is as Crazy Does

I think there are different levels of crazy. There is the kind of crazy that will chop you up into tinny little pieces in the bathtub simply because you cut them off in traffic and then there is the kind of crazy that will take their tragic past and turn it into art.
It's not for me to judge which one is more entertaining but I will say that after knowing of and seeing Thoth here in New York for years I can now understand his story...well, at least as it is presented in this documentary. I still think he's off the wall, but if he can turn his coo-coo-ness into a Broadway show then his craziness will have paid off.

Here is what happens when you take a snippet of Thoth and toss it on to the mainstream.

R U A Hoarder?

I have a fascination with mental illness, mental retardation, and folk that have a different view on life based on their disabilities or ability to see, smell, hear, taste, and touch the things in this world. So when I stumbled upon this program about Hoarders I could not change the channel. These folk fascinate me...maybe because I hate "stuff" and they on the other hand can't seem to let go of it. I'm constantly giving my possessions away once I'm done with them. I've given away CDs, books, shoes, dresses, etc. I'll keeps things on my shelves for some time but after a while I feel like other people should make a home for my things. After all, I can't take my possessions with me to the after life.

I acknowledge that there are millions of Americans that suffer from hoarding but the child in me would love to rummage through a hoarder's possessions. It seems like a fun thing to do...full of discovery...so long as I don't get crushed by their possessions.

Watch this first segment on Hoarders. You'll be amazed. Click HERE

Sexual Labels

I've always been confused by sexual labels. Is a person gay because of their desires to be sexual with a person of the same sex or because of the person engaging in same sex sexual activity?

If sexual orientation is based on the "act" of having sex with a person of the same sex then I would say that:

I'm a practicing Homosexual and an non-practicing Heterosexual.

If sexual orientation is based on the "desire" to have sex with a person regardless of their gender then I would say that:

I have no sexual attraction to women (that I'm aware of) but I would be willing to have sexual activity with a female.

After all, sex can simply be a physical act like giving a person, regardless of the gender, a massage...the difference is that it involves the genitals.

Simply put, my natural desires are to be with a person of the same sex but I'm willing to engage in heterosexual sexual activity...

ALA For President

I don't like to get political but since we are only a month away from the elections why not have a little fun with my political views.
Of course I could go into great detail on each issue but for the sake of keeping things to a short Blog post here's a condensed version of my views.

These are only a fraction of the issues being discussed in this current presidential election.

ADRIAN L. ACOSTA
Abortion
- Pro Choice
Afghanistan - wouldn't want to visit
Cuba - Once had a Cuban boyfriend . He brought out the violet person in me. I didn't like it.
Economic Stimulus - I would give incentives for alternative fuel companies (solar, wind, etc) to start up and compete in the market. Also create a "Stupid" tax that will help clean up the mess stupid people's action cause. We shall call it the "Gump Tax."
Education - US Education sucks. This coming from someone who learned more in a third world country education system. I would get rid of multiple choice, fill in the blank, and matching questions on tests. All test will require students to answer questions in the form of an essay and required classes should only be taken up to the 11th grade. Grade 12th should only have half required classes and half classes on a particular field of work (like a vocational school). Or seniors should be able to take half required and half college credit classes. I advocate the use of school uniforms in public schools.
Energy - See Economic Stimulus.
Environment - Al Gore may have a point.

I'll probably add my views on the other issues later on...or I'll have my secretary of state do it for me. What the hell does a secretary of state do anyway? lol btw, my secretary of state's name is Pollo Ann Rice.
