My Stretch Of Time

I got to thinking. What if I live till I was 75 years old. How old will I be when?

Here it is.
The Past, Present, and Future.
Here is a time table where I assume family members and I live till we are 75 years old...I called mom and she expects to stick around till she's 80-85.
There's no getting rid of that lady.

It's so weird to think of all the things that I've experience that others didn't and all the things that I will never get to experience which others will.

I am not permanent"

Jump

Half of the time I'm terrified of doing new projects. My heart races right before I perform on stage, every time. Right before a photo shoot my mind spins. It doubts itself. It wonders if I really, really know what it is that I'm about to do.

Yet, in my heart of hearts I KNOW I can do it - simply because I'm willing to try.

It's that ability to allow myself to fall flat on my face that I admire the most about myself...not to mention my humbleness. lol

This Sunday I have a photo shoot that will be challenging my creative ability and skills. I won't lie, I'm a bit scared but just like that time I jumped out of a plane I know that once I take that step off the edge all I have to do is allow gravity to take over...and boy, is that a thrilling fall.

Vacation

My sister has been in town since Friday morning.
Perfect timing.
I used her presence as an excuse to take a vacation.
I really needed it.
I've been off work (day job) since Friday and won't be going back till Wed.

I did however work yesterday as the photographer on the set of a new music video by two talented artists...and I did do some post production on some photos from last week's photo shoot. I'll share more once my vacation is over.
I'm pretty much ignoring all emails...and it feels great.

Gonna go make myself a sandwich now.

Who Am I?

Who am I?

I've been asked that.

You might be wondering that right now. If not now maybe you will later.

In any event, here is one way I could answer that question even though it might make me sound a bit pompous. Pompous can be fun so long as people know that you don't really take yourself that serious-ly. And to prove it here's a joke.

Knock Knock.
(who's there)
Ya
(Ya who?)
No it's not Yahoo but now that you mentioned it I should check my email.

ok so, who am I?
Who I am has many answers as you may already know. It all depends on the answer you want. You could be asking me who am I in relation to someone else. In which case I could be something different to different people. A brother, a son, a lover, a coworker, a customer, an angel, an asshole, etc.
Or you could be asking me who do I think I am. In which case I could answer with, I think I'm a funny person, a sad person, an angry person, a restless person, a calm person, a loving and caring person, etc.

If you really ask me who I am I might be forced to ask you what do you think makes me who I am, my actions or my thoughts? I can think I'm Napoleon but that won't make it so. On the other hand I could go out on the streets today and kill someone once, just once, and that will make me a murdered for the rest of my life. In other words I guess what they say is true, "actions speak louder than words."

So, instead of asking me who am I, maybe you should be asking me what is it that I'm doing? In which case you should already know the answer since we are sharing this very moment together you and I.

But if you know what it is that I'm doing you may wonder why am I doing it? In which case I could answer "Because I can."

How does that make me feel knowing that "I can" do what it is that I'm doing?
Very grateful and humble.

Thanks for asking.

Where is Washington?

I was walking down a New York city street today when a man turned to me and asked me:

"Excuse me, would you happen to know where is Washington?"

I thought for a second, looked at the street ahead, which was Stoner, and then honestly answered.

"I don't know."

As I kept on walking I thought to myself, I assume the man was asking for Washington street although he didn't use the word "street." But what if what he was really looking for was the late president Washington? Where is he? I thought some more and came up with the same answer.

I don't know.

Is Washington in President Heaven or is he in President Hell? Where will George W Bush go after he dies, heaven or hell?

Then I snapped back to reality and realize that Washington is at the palm of my hand. He's on the dollar bill.

I guess the moral of the story could be:

When you are not sure if you are going in the right direction which could lead you to heaven or hell (if there is such a place) just pull out a dollar bill and remind yourself that politics and money go hand in hand....or use that money to buy a fucking map you dumb ass. What do I look like, a fucking tour guide?

Meet You at The Crossroads

I'm at a crossroad, a fork in the road. Somewhere between the past, present, and future I stand. I'm coming to terms with the realization that I've been living in an illusion. This illusion had convinced me that you can pause life while you figure things out. No such luck buddy. Life keeps going, and you either get on the train or you end up off the train. Why would you want to be on a train instead of a private jet is beyond me? I mean, what kind of train are we talking about? Is it a subway train, or one of those old school steam trains? Regardless of whether you get on a train or a private jet chances are you won't be conducting/flying the darn thing anyway...of course unless you do conduct your on train or fly your own jet...I've actually never met anyone that has or does. I would love to meet that man or woman someday. What would I ask him or her? How about something like: are you aware that it took many hard working people to put together this wonderful machine you are now using to travel great distances?

I wonder if a question like that would put that person at a crossroad.

The Beat Goes On

I was in a creative vortex, connected to my computer making music all weekend. A friend of a friend gave me some raw tracks and I've signed on to write the melody and the lyrics to the songs. It's an exciting project...once I'm in the creative zone it's hard for me to come back to reality.

Funny thing is that about a month ago I was telling one of my roommates that in addition to completing the book I'm writing I also wanted to record and album. Next thing I know someone contacted me asking me if I wanted to contribute to some of his songs.

I hate to be superstitious but it's funny how the Universe will provide when you make your desires known.

maybe next time I'll ask the Universe to help me win the lottery
